My greatest sources of inspiration in art stems from the realms of music, fictional literature, and my rich daydreams.
Music
The experience of music constitutes an integral part of my creative process. Be it the early hours of the morning or the moments before bedtime, my auditory canvas is consistently adorned with the various melodies that resonate through my headphones. Music serves not only as a backdrop to help navigate daily life and enhance my focus but also as a catalyst for envisioning intricate scenarios that go along with the melodies. These mental landscapes, brief yet highly specific, provide a rich source of inspiration for my artistic expressions, enabling me to capture entire scenarios within a drawing. Some of my favourite songs to write to are:
1. Rises the Moon by Liana Flores
I particularly like listening to this song when drawing more mild and sweet things. It has a soft and beautiful melody that sounds like a lullaby.
2. Song for my Lost Ghost Friends by Spellcasting
This song has no lyrics and gives a feeling of wondering in the woods in a video-game. It inspires me to create supernatural creatures in the woods most of the time.
3. Vulture Culture by Fangclub
Unlike the other songs, Vulture Culture is an alternative rock song. It inspires me to draw more serious topics.
Fiction
On the other hand, fictional novels, with their immersive narratives, play a pivotal role in facilitating world-building within my artistic endeavors. These literary works serve to define fantastical political structures and act as another wellspring for my creative brain. When faced with an art block, I usually turn to the imagery offered by novels and draw scenes or characters that resonate deeply with me. This practice ensures a continuous flow of artistic output, even during periods when inspiration might be elusive. One of my main sources of inspiration is:
Trash of the Count's Family by Yoo Ryeo Han
Trash of the Count's Family follows the main character, Cale Henituse, who is actually Kim Rok Soo that had transmigrated into Cale's body. Cale then goes on a journey to be protected from the upcoming war and live a secluded, lazy life. However, he finds out that he will not be able to relax until the war is put to the end. This novel has great world building and interesting characters for me to take inspiration from and is a very enjoyable read.
Daydreams
Equally influential in my inspiration are the recesses of my daydreams, wherein I immerse myself for at least ten minutes twice a day. This thoughtful venture harnesses the power of my personal imagination and creativity, ultimately serving as the last main origin from which I draw inspiration for my artistic endeavors.
