Emma Starkey, born on February 24, 2008 in New Brunswick, came to the world with a boundless imagination that has fuelled her creativity since childhood. From battling an imaginary zombie apocalypse to creating a slime alien companion with fur, her mind has always been a realm bustling with ideas.
However, she initially expressed this boundless creativity through words, spinning her ideas into enchanting tales. It wasn’t until sixth grade that Starkey’s artistic journey began. Guided by a teacher who recognized and nurtured her interest in visual arts, the teacher encouraged her to draw daily, whether inspired by her vivid imagination or referencing other artworks. As a result, Starkey’s passion for art began to bloom.
Nonetheless, it would take until high school, specifically the opportunity to study art seriously presented by the Visual Arts & Media Academy in grade ten, for her to fully realize the full extent of her passion for the craft. Eager to immerse herself in the world of visual arts, Starkey enthusiastically embraced the chance to pursue her artistic journey at a more serious level upon acceptance into the academy.
